Teaching Philosophy
-
Warm Environment
I provide a warm and supportive learning environment so that students can feel free to communicate their needs with me. I also often serve as a mentor to students, providing guidance and encouragement to help students grow.
-
Effortless Technique
I believe that teaching a solid foundation on the piano is crucial in continuing a student’s musical progress. Effortless technique is the ability to identify and therefore execute the type of expressive sounds desired to produce. As a result, students with good technique acquire musical freedom that allows for a wider range of expression in playing. I believe that these goals can be accomplished when taught through efficient use of the whole body.

Artistry
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.
-
Discipline, Perseverance, and Self-Confidence
I believe that daily practice is crucial in creating musical progress. I teach skills in creative, critical, and independent thinking.
-
Performance
Performance is a skill that can only be acquired by performing frequently. Students will have many opportunities to perform at masterclasses, recitals, and festivals.

Comprehensive Musicianship
I believe in having a well-rounded musical education. In my lessons, I incorporate ear training, theory, history, and sight-reading. I also choose a wide range of repertoire to expose students to various cultures.
